If you aren't a fan of the Bigsby, you'll want to check out the stoptail version The White Falcon is nothing short of legendary and has become somewhat of a poster child for Gretsch over the years - with everyone from Brian Jones to Brian Setzer, Neil Young and John Frusciante turning to the soaring sound of this striking hollowbody to achieve some of the greatest guitar tones ever committed to tape. Last but not least, we have the drop-dead gorgeous Gretsch G6136TG Players Edition Falcon. The addition of the centre block allows you to play this stunning six-string loud and proud without worrying about unwanted feedback. Moving further down the line, we have the Gretsch G5622T Electromatic Center Block, which for us, is one of the most versatile guitars Gretsch offers today. And I think you can still get the 50s RI version with the sexy headstock and humped inlays-also a 6136, but the bracing is different (one's trestle, one's post-can't remember which).Īgree that the Japanese guitars are immaculately built, but whatever. That's the one you see most of the time anyway. I would look for the 6136 with the thumbnail marker inlays and the flat Bigsby handle.
That thing is heavy and when it gets loose it flops and bangs all over your guitar top. I had one of those and that Bigsby handle won't stay secure for the length of a single song if you use it at all. The 7593 one is the Baldwin reissue with the block inlays and the thin round Bigsby bar. Also, remember there are two WF series-the 6136 and the 7593. For what it's worth-The fret markers are really hard to see in the gold sparkle binding.
